The following is an outline of the program:

Presentation Title: “How to Set Up and Photograph Easy Still Life Arrangements”

In this presentation you will learn how to approach the subject of still life, in an easy and uncomplicated way. If you have ever wanted to try creating and photographing the subject of still life, but think it is too complicated or aren’t sure where to start, then this presentation will give you lots of tips and inspiration to begin.

We will cover the following elements:

· Backgrounds and tabletop choices – lots of ideas for “do-it-yourself” and inexpensive alternatives to get you started.

· Lighting and small set-up spaces

· Simple Lens Choices and some recommendations for creative lenses to give your stills a special look and feel

· Props, Styling and “What about Flatlays!”

· Post processing tips to create mood and tones

· No dedicated large studio required to make beautiful and simple stills

CCC is planning some exciting outings for club members and their invitees. Details will be provided once they are finalized. 

The following are some of the outings being discussed:

1. Cloisters, NYC - this will be a Saturday 9/28/2024 outing. The group will carpool and spend the day photography the beautiful environs. 

2. Others - Beardsley Zoo, South Street Seaport, Staten Island Ferry, Mansions along the Hudson (Roosevelt, Vanderbilt...). To be discussed during our kickoff meeting on 8/20/2024.

3. Beardsley Zoo - Glow Wild Lantern Festival. This was presented at the 9/10 meeting. Let's get a group together and see this wonderful exhibit.

Journey through a wonderland of illuminated larger-than-life lanterns inspired by our wild world. Back by popular demand, this illuminating festival of lights is coming back for its third year! 

Spanning the width and breadth of Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo’s 30 acres, guests are invited to walk through glowing corridors. Displays of flora and fauna will light up the night sky, dazzling guests of all ages!

4. New York City 

A. From Sept. 6 to the end of October, 100 Indian elephant sculptures will be showcased on New York City streets in partnership with Elephant Family USA to promote coexistence between humans and wildlife, according to a spokesperson for The Great Elephant Migration.

The 100 elephants are scattered across the Meatpacking District, with the majority lining 9th Avenue from 14th Street down to Gansevoort Plaza. Others can be found farther west along 14th Street, Gansevoort Landing, and the corner of Horatio Street and 8th Avenue.

B. A walk through the city. Great opportunity to do some photography of various subjects. This includes but is not limited to people, architecture, street scenes, etc. We will spend the better part of the day exploring what NYC has to offer. We might even head to B&H.
